There were fifteen minutes of sunshine yesterday. I missed seven and one-half of them, but the seven and one-half that remained were glorious. These cosmos didn't bloom all summer. They grew. And grew. And grew. Into a huge ferny forest. They have trunks instead of stems. When the weather turned cool, they burst into bloom, and show no sign of retreat.
For a few moments I could close my eyes, feel the sun on my face, and listen to the buzzing of the bees...
And pretend it was summer again.

We've been blessed with so many sunny days that a misty drizzly day was actually a welcome change.

MBFarm...yes, that's lamb's ear. I really should have cleaned out the old dead flower stalks before I took the pictures, but I didn't have clippers, and some of them are so tough that hard yanking doesn't get the job done.
Cosmos are so bold and cheerful and then provide seeds for happy little birds. Great staging of them too.
Wow! these are about twice the size of mine. I pulled mine up today too in readiness for the reorganising of the cutting garden. They were still flowering away so I felt quite bad but nothing like these!
I think I might try Cosmos in the mountains next year. It's always cool there, so maybe they'd survive (and bloom). Glad you got some sunshine on your face, June!

I'm in Texas today and we had a glorious sunny day in the mid-80's. I don't want to go home to fall and long bulky sweaters and shoes and socks. I love bare toes in the warm breezes. The flowers are beautiful...I'm glad you had some sun today too!

What wonderful color in a fall garden! I have been looking for ideas for brightening my fall and winter garden area. I guess it is on my mind because it is raining and dreary here today. One site I found that had good garden color ideas is www.coffeeonthepatio.com.
