Carlyle said that how to observe was to look,
but I say that it is rather to see, and the more you look the less you will observe.
~ Henry David Thoreau, Journal, September 13, 1852

I so agree with Thoreau. There is a huge difference between looking and truly seeing. Just as there is a difference between hearing and truly listening.

I love this quote and try my best to see and listen as Bonnie mentions!

What a blessing! I would be absolutely over the moon if I had those beauties walking through my back yard.

I enjoyed this post and I like Thoreau too. What a life that was.

Oh, yes. Thoreau had a great life in many ways, judging from what I know of him. Much time for thought, for satisfying work, for observing.

Carolynn, I am quietly satisfiedly over the moon, knowing that my presence is not a disturbance to these beauties. I am here and they are there and it's all just a joy.
