I woke up with Don & Juan's What's Your Name rolling through my brain.
I love the harmony of doo wop, I love that the artists dressed formally, moved through choreographed poses as they sang. (They didn't make videos of performances in 1962, but I probably saw them on American Bandstand.)
Life was one big prom night.
I wonder why that particular song was at the tip of my consciousness upon awaking.

Ahhh!
No, never heard it before but I do remember doo wop, although again, I never knew that that is what the songs were called.
Blimey, they could actually sing in those days.
I've just got to your last post and left a comment; sorry for being late.
Funny about doo wop. Didn't like it at all when I was a kid and it was popular. Now I love a lot of it and my kids like it too.
What's your naaaaaame? Is it Mary or Sue? What's your naaaaaame? Do I stand a chance with you....
Now I will be singing this to myself all day, June.
We have a collection of oldies, but goodies!!! I love them.
The old songs like OH Donna and Earth Angel pop into my mind all the time, but never on waking! :)
Friko, "actually sing," yes! The fashion now seems to be, if the singer is singing at all, to perform all the vocal gymnastics of which the human voice is possible rather than singing. Beautiful, isn't it?
Threecollie, it's so very soothing and sing-along-able, isn't it?
Wanda, me too. "Oh Donna" comes to me when I think about a former hairdresser of mine...loved her. "Earth Angel" never much appealed to me...there was a nasal quality to the singer's voice, as I recall, that I didn't like.
From the tip of your consciousness to inbetween my ears...I'll be humming this all day. And that's a good thing.
Perhaps that particular song came to you because of the week you've had. After all the drama you've been deluged with I think I'd wonder who the heck I was, too.
I love it too. You'll find me singing along in the car...I know all the words. Ohh wee, ohh wee, oh oh weeeeee!
I didn't know the duo or the song but it's fabulous. As Friko says, they can sing, and you get all kinds of harmonies. Released in the year of my birth, too, so it shows what a big year it was.
The lobby at work is a wonderful place to sing. :-) Better than the shower!
Do people often sing while naked in the lobby at work?
I don't know, but now it's on my mind, too! We actually listen to these oldies (but our goodies) on Satellite radio. We're oldies but goodies, I guess.
Your consciousness holds great power. It's managed to place this song on the mind of everyone who has read your post. Not a bad way to start the day. :)
Hilary, all day long yesterday as I hummed, I thought of all of us humming along. In harmony, of course. ;-p
LW: Only me.
You go, Girl!! Please tell me you use the back-scrubber for a microphone!
LW: I lean toward the PD's bulletproof window and the microphone in there.
Hi There, Just stopping by to say HELLO. Hope you are doing fine.
You must have had a wonderful dream!!!!
Happy 4th of July.
Hugs,
Betsy
June,
You rock. :)
I haven't heard that one before. At least it's a song you like and not something that will annoy you all day.
I love that song! Funny... I can be in the middle of something and a song will hit me and I just have to start singing and dancing with my dogs.
I love the way they moved and dressed. I wish that kind of music would make a comeback.
I like your blog!
A veritable blast from the past -- fun music!
Have just read your About Me. Loved it!! so agree with what you said... we sound quite similar...
Now, back to reading your posts!! x
Interesting. I do that as well--wake up with something on my mind that I can't explain. Usually, it will hit me later; like I heard the song as I washed my car or passing someone's office.
That was fun. I've got a good oldies radio station link on my sidebar.. The 60's I don't remember some of those years LOL
Sounds like a good way to wake up - thinking of something fun like that. Perhaps you were dancing in an early morning dream.
"What's you name?" Er ... Perhaps you'd forgotten yours overnight, and that was your subconscious giving you a hint? LOL :)
Ok, I was really happy to hear from you. I hope you're doing well and am thinking of you. :)
