We have a couple of branches from the weeping cherry we pruned. They're on a vase on our dining room table. Last week they had a hundred dead-looking bumps on them. Today they're blooming, right on the table!
Isn't that just the best spring sound? It's the first sign I look for. Here they return just as the pussy willows are silvering and I spy them in the same swamp.
I live in my dream place with Husband, one beloved rescued cat and one beloved rescued dog, and the warm memories of many other treasured pets.
I rarely sleep for more than four hours at a time and would happily nap/wake/nap/wake all day and night. I am undisciplined, a classic underachiever.
I believe that inevitable tragedy is a fork in the road, offering lessons in emotional and spiritual growth.
One of my coping skills is a quick and wicked wit and I often crack me up.
I avoid people who talk neverendingly about nothing. I cannot bear unrelieved humorless negativity.
I like people who are comfortable with silence.
I like listening to people who learn from Life.
I have received a few Blogger Awards, and while I find them momentarily gratifying, they're just too much like chain emails and I gratefully decline to receive any more of them.

Does that mean we have actually survived another winter?
Or is this an early bird that promises to catch the worm and then reneges on the promise?
A friend of mine in aerobics class this morning said she heard the first frog yesterday! It's really coming, spring is coming, tra-la! :-)
We've had a resurgence of life within the last couple of weeks here. The frogs and crickets are already getting noisy. A good noisy though.
I see a snowstorm on your horizon. You heard it here.
I've heard that they're back, but I've yet to hear that "conk-a-REE-ah!"
I heard the first sign of me the other day (that wasn't a cough) and thought, "Spring! Soon!"
Red wing blackbirds always say spring to me even more than robins.
When I hear the red-winged blackbird, I know spring is on its way. Neat photo!!
Oh, it's early, and there might well be snow again . . . but they're back for the season now and that is A Good Thing!

my goodness, there are a lot of happy readers here. PAH! autumn hasn't drifted in here, it's plummeted down.
Aren't the first signs of Spring wonderful? Your post made me smile.
We rarely see these lovelies on our farm -- but we are seeing frogs and groundhogs and the first tulip has bloomed...

Thanks for the nice photo. B just cut some pussy willows this morning and put them on the dining room table. Next up: forsythia!
what a beautiful bird. I choose to believe winter is over. I planted my garden already! ;-)
How stunning June, I have never heard of or seen this bird (naturally) but what a treat for me!
They're my harbinger of spring, also. We've been hearing their beautiful bleeeeeak sounds for about a week, now. Lovely shot.
We have about 30 of these birds at our birdfeeder right now. I love their song, too and am happy to fill their tummies.
