It's a trifle over two solid weeks that I've been walking a two-mile route. Once a day, morning or evening. Sometimes, if my Achilles tendons are tight and sore, it isn't even the two-mile route, but rather the half-mile driveway loop. I weighed myself a week ago and had lost nothing. I kept at it, thinking that with the eating habits changing and the moving-instead-of-sitting-for-the-equivalent-length-of-time, something would have to give.
Alors!
This morning: five pounds lighter!
It's like throwing a deck chair off the Queen Mary.

I bet throwing a chair at the Queen would get you arrested, and maybe it would be even easier to lose weight with prison food.
Cool! I've been walking every day myself, 3 miles. Partly inspired by the earlier dark here in northern New England. (you know, get out while you can). You've inspired me!
Congratulations. And I'll bet you feel better, stronger, healthier, too! :-)
Good for you. And not too tough, either. Here's to the next deck chair.
I hit a plateau once some time back and complained to the doctor. She didn't understand why I was so adamant about losing the next ten pounds. "Because I'm the one who has to carry it upstairs!"
Hurray for you! Reminds me I need to get out and walk today.
Good for you! You are an inspiration...and I write that while lounging on the sofa with my feet up! Maybe I'll put my shoes on and go for a walk.
Bah! How did you do it? I've been trying to lose 10 kilos for almost 2 years and they won't budge though I now only eat 2 light meals a day and of course exercise! Grrrr. Maybe I need A Hill.
esbboston, not only with the food . . . but the workout room and nothing else to do!
Anon, good for you! I do wonder if I'll keep this up when it's dark before work and dark after work...
DJan, I feel better, yes. Mostly CALMER. Must be the oxygen, huh? Whatever it is, I'll take it. And so will the people around me all day!
Joanne, it isn't enough to kill me, if that's what you mean by "not too tough." It is far easier now than it was at the beginning, and that in itself, gives me hope that I will achieve three miles like Anon up there.
Linda, just keep in mind that it's like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It feels so good when it's over.
Nana, getting up and doing it beats sitting thinking about how you SHOULD do it.
glp's typist, I have seen enough of your appendages in your photos (when you think you're hiding yourself) to know that you're fit enough. I might have an edge, dragging around, as I am, a whole second person. Not to mention I can't walk out the door without going up or down a hill.
Excellent! I'm glad for you. :)
I've been doing something similar.. I don't know how long the route is but it takes me a half hour to walk it (sans camera.. that can add hours) and I do it twice a day. The first few weeks.. nothing. Then it just started to work. It used to be so easy to lose weight.. sigh!
Keep on enjoying.
Keep it up. If the exercise becomes a habit, you'll be healthier AND thinner.
It's that weekly (not daily) weigh in that led to such a celebration! Wow! Deck chairs! My hubby's sick the last two weeks, so our daily walk has been set aside. I never think of walking alone. But, perhaps I should walk anyway for the sheer enjoyment of being outside, seeing the birds (Canada geese headed east last night, I think they're confused!). Perseverance! Your entries always make me smile.
Wow! Yay! That's awesome. It's so quick in coming and so slow in going, isn't it.
