Dreaming dogs and weather

A friend sent me this video this morning. If I could exercise like that while sleeping, two thirds of the contents of my closet would become available to me once again. Long ago somebody said to me, "Why do people always wake up dogs when they're dreaming? They always say, 'Oh look, he's having a bad dream!' and wake up the dog. Maybe the dog's enjoying the dream!" That conversation changed my view of dreaming dogs.

Screeny view from the bedroom

We had some snow overnight at the beginning of the weekend, and yesterday and today, sunny. Cold, to the tune of 27F right now (-17C sounds so much more dramatic to me), yet sunny enough that the snow is melting off the roof. I wish it would stay: it's a good insulator.

I am pining for warmth and green.

You're pining for warmth and green, and here I sit at 5.30am in the morning pining for some of your white stuff to cool me down! It is so sultry that I do believe the aircon will go on at 6am (not a minute before mind you)
I always believe that dogs are having great fun when they dream.
Stay warm, and rug up June!

That was a funny video! I do wonder what the heck he was dreaming about: chasing a squirrel, running home to his beloved mistress, who knows? It sure was fun to watch, though.

I have just returned from two weeks in Florida where it was sunny and warm, but now here at home I'm looking at pea-soup thick fog, and it's almost noon. I don't think it will clear off, and it's right around freezing. Oh, well, I think I'll go for a walk in it anyway. :-)

Loved the video! He was obviously having a great time and getting lots of exercise!

Your snow is so lovely, but I know it isn't always easy to deal with and the cold gets old very fast! It hasn't been exactly tropical here in Arizona, but I keep reminding myself to enjoy the cool days while I can.

I just returned from visiting a friend who lives near Santa Barbara, CA and we had lunch outside at a seaside cafe last week. It was glorious, though a bit chilly. Only surfers, dogs and small children were braving the waters. Still, I know that would be a dream for those digging out from the latest mega snow storm.

Boy, that dog is really going somewhere! I realized the other day that my only experience of my new home so far has been in the grip of winter. I don't mind the snow, it's the shovelling that I'm not crazy about. As soon as I'm done, I could start all over again from the beginning - it's already that thick again.

The dog video reminds me of the golden retrievers that I've had as pets years ago.
I remember the dogs use to sometimes make sort of a squeaking sound while sleeping. I wonder if it was a muffled bark.
Maybe they weren't nightmares after all.

-17 definitely sounds more dramatic. Cushion tells me not to wake Georgia up when she's dreaming but I do when she starts to growl, whimper or is really thrashing around. Surely that can't be a GOOD dream, right?

Sending you some sunshine! We could do with a bit less here X

I'm with you.. warmth and green sounds good right now. That dog was a hoot. It never occurred to me to wake a dreaming dog. They're too much fun to watch.

I too am ready for spring and some warm weather.

Haven't you ever heard: "let sleeping dogs lie?" Your view of snow covered hills is so peaceful. Green will have to wait awhile!
