It's just the right size. For many items...
...including MiMau.
When I came inside yesterday, I piled my book and my camera on top of her and transported the whole lot indoors.
If rolling stones gather no moss, and still waters run deep,
stationary baskets gather collect cats.

How much nicer too the basket looks sitting around, than maybe a bag or carryall.
I have an old sturdy basket that my g'g'mother used to gather eggs in, maybe I should use it for my camera, phone, book, clippers, and gloves when outside. The items, like my camera, would be easier to quickly retrieve from a basket.
MiMau looks very comfy!

A basket needs a cat.... as does a newspaper left on the floor, or a pile of freshly-ironed laundry, or a bed that you're in the middle of making.....
Lovely picture!
I guess this confirms your cat as being a basket case?!
how cool is that! stationary baskets gather cats - this is how cliches are born - from the truth!
I could occasionally do with someone to transport me to a warm , sunny spot too !
My Chaucer usually likes boxes even though I have baskets he will fit in.
StationEry baskets gather cats too. We used to have one in which we kept all our papers and notepads and bills to pay, and our cat slept on top of it all.
Funny cats...
When I was a kid we had a big wooden Shaker bowl (like this: http://www.harvardpress.com/Portals/0/issues/2009_10_09/auction_0454_550w.jpg) that our two cats would cuddle up in together.
My cat Larisa likes shopping bags. We'll leave them on the floor for a couple of days so we can delight in listening to random sack crashes.
Cats do love finding those special places!
Ah, cute.
Cats will collect themselves in the comfiest places.
I see that MiMau cannot be disturbed when she is resting - even with objects piled upon her. She knows her rightful place and probably didn't even open her eyes. Oh - the confidence of cats!
Cats waste no time finding a free container no matter the size. Even if it's really too small, they'll puddle their forms into it. They always manage. Lovely shot.
