And yet another EVENT!

Thank you all for your kind sympathy on Max's departure. We're still breathing here, I've settled down and gotten over myself in regard to poor Husband's attempt to lighten the mood . . . and, while I would have the little pink boy back in a heartbeat if he could be well and happy, it's so easy having one cat and one dog.

Angus has almost stopped looking over his shoulder when the supper dish goes down. For years, he's had to give up his dish for Max. He's moved to the foot of the bed to let Max have the next-to-Mom's-head spot. He's retained enough of his little wild man personality to shine through, and now I think he's enjoying being an only dog. He bounces around like a little rocking horse and playbows at MiMau, at Husband, at me: he clearly is not aware that he is just as old as his brother who is no longer among us.

The EVENT is that today is my birthday. I have reached an age seven years beyond the 54 that my sister's friend, playing psychic, said would be the end of me. I have lived two years beyond a cancer diagnosis and cure. I've lived long enough to have been a drunk and have seven years of sobriety under my belt.
Life is good.
I'm a lucky woman.

Happy birthday, aren't those "extra" years precious? Aging gratefully is a super motto, and suits me too. I am happy to learn of your successes in healing and being in recovery.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUNE! I had to do some quick math and am glad to see you're older than me ;) Well done on trumping the psychic's prediction for yet another year.

Good to know also that Angus is coping rather well.

Big hug X

Yes, a very happy birthday and have a very good day. The description of Angus reminds me of a cat story a friend told. All the children moved away and took their respective pets and there was a cat left. They recognized her as the cat that always sat at someone's feet. Once she found she could have a lap, she took it. They called her The Cat with no name. Cat for short. I said it probably was Catherine, if they would ask her.

Oh, I'm so happy to send you an armload of birthday wishes! You have much to celebrate.

It's true, sometimes our pets minimize their personalities in deference to another animal in the house. I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well, considering.

I'm having a wee giveaway over at my place - maybe there's a birthday present here for you!

Happy Birthday, June. What could make these celebrations more special than having survived a cancer diagnosis and an addiction? You have certainly been blessed. May your joys compound daily.

Sorry to hear about Max -- I've put a couple of dogs to sleep and I know it's always a tough decision, and a tough process to go through.

But it sounds as though YOU'RE a survivor. So happy birthday, and keep on truckin'!

Dear June, how wonderful that Angus is doing so well.
You're a "warrior" girl in more ways than a couple - some great achievements there.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthday June, you spring chicken, you.
You should never believe soothsayers, their crystal balls have all gone cloudy.

Is it really already two years since the cancer? How time flies in blogland.

Drat, missed your birthday, but hope you enjoyed it, and live through many more. Seven years in sobriety is such an achievement; those of us who live alongside folks like yourself, and knowing what it took to get going on that path, can only look on in awe.
