The Importance of Capitalization

Those of us who fall into the world of business should take note of the importance of correct grammar.

I have noticed that many who text messages and email have forgotten the "art" of capitalization.
Capitalization is the difference between
helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and
helping your uncle jack off a horse.

If only I could use that example in the classroom! Maybe the middle schoolers would pay attention.

I don't understand. Help.

The phrase under the picture is clearly misspelt.

Help!

Stupid me, I meant the phrase in the lower half of the picture . . . .

Reminds me of a joke (oh no!) 'Is muffin the mule a criminal offence?'

Nana, you would have a classroom of howling baboons if you used that example at school!

Oh dear, Friko. I wondered if that would translate to English English from American English. If I say that helping your uncle jack off a horse would be an unnatural act, does that help?
But yes, there is an apostrophe missing in the lower part of the picture.

Who could forget the horror of misused capital letters in ransome notes or the delight of same in Emily Dickenson's poetry?

I laughed! There are only 160 characters in a text and I have such a hard time making things fit...my urge for proper capitalization and spelling is a 'problem'.

Gawd, I'm slow. It took about 30 seconds for that to click. Bwahaha!

Ha ha! That's right up there with the importance of the comma in the phrase: 'Let's eat, Grandpa!'

Sometimes it's the ambiguous nature of language that does the damage. The Daily Express (UK) ran this headline during the North Africa Campaign in WW2

"Eighth Army push bottles up Germans rear."
