How long, O Lord? How long?

Yesterday afternoon I stoked up the fire in the wood stove and left the entrance door cracked to let in the mild air that wafted around the house (until sunset). I found some signs of incipient lilac blooms and green shoots of something in the garden in front of the house. The forsythia bushes have changed color, slightly . . . it could be the changed color of the light . . . but show no signs of bursting into sunshine-colored cheer.
The dogs ran far down the back yard sniffing winter mouse nests.

I was encouraged.
And then, this morning, this forecast. I'm trying to continue to be strong and brave, but I grow weary of this.

Today: A chance of rain and snow before 9am, then a chance of snow between 9am and 11am, then a chance of rain after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming southeast between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight: Rain likely before 9pm, then rain and snow likely between 9pm and midnight, then snow after midnight. Low around 33. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Friday: Snow. High near 36. North wind between 9 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Friday Night: Rain and snow likely before 9pm, then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind between 15 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Saturday: A chance of snow showers before 11am, then a chance of rain showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind between 13 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

I put laundry out on the line yesterday...thought about raking the yard...patrolled for tulip shoots and crocuses...and then heard the weather. Isn't it going to be April tomorrow?

I suspect I should stop complaining that autumn is here, the skies grey and drizzly, and the temperature a chilly 23degreesC. In fact, it's entirely possible I should be grateful :) Stay strong!

Feeling for you, June. I think my area is about to break through that cold barrier, it's 27* this morning, but the weekend is to be in the high 40s with a steady climb to the mid 60s for next week. Of course, two weeks ago we saw almost 70* and that changed! ButI'm hopeful...it can't stay cold forever...right?

I feel your pain. We still have about 8 inches of snow on the ground, and possible more on the way next week. I want spring to be here now!!!

No wonder you are cheesed off. I would be too.

So, are you actually following the programme outlined in your last post? It might be an idea, you know.
The only thing I'd add for myself would be frequent dips into the chocolate cupboard for a small (by my standards) sample.

At least desertification isn't a problem !
But I agree , we seem to have entered some sci-fi Eternal Winter and I can only faintly remember what it's like to sit outside and lounge in the sun .

Oh my, I felt bad just reading the forecast, never mind living there! In our little part of the world in Italy, it's up to 60 degrees in the day and sunny. Spring flowers and flowering fruit trees are blooming. The weather affects your mood, doesn't it?

I just wouldn't mind some of your weather. In Cape Town we've had heat-wave temperatures most of the time since December. First rain this week and temp dropped to 25 degrees. Thank goodness. Being of British blood I long for a bit of cold and wet! But I married a South African....

I'm with you! Today is starting to almost (not quite) feel like spring. But I think our forecast looks a little like yours. Even the critters are acting disgusted. I think perhaps we were spoiled by the early spring we had last year. Still........(Wishful thinking).

I know the feeling. We awoke to one of those chancy snows this morning.. not much .. just enough to annoy.

We are predicted to get pretty much the same forecast as you except the snowfall will exceed 12 inches and be consederably colder. It's coming up the coast so I hope you'll get less of it being that far to the west. But as the weatherman cheerfully predicted: "Saturday and Sunday look very nice so you'll have plenty of time to clean up the mess". That gives me so much comfort. Yeah, like I even plan to get out of bed.....

What d'ya mean? I see 78 degrees and sunny; then 84 degrees and sunny; and another day of 84 degrees and sun ... oh darn, that's in Florida where my sister lives. Oh well, back to Northeastern reality ...

Our crazy weather went from winter to summer in nothing flat. 88 degrees today. White leg alert going out as we all scramble to remember the alternatives to jeans and hiking boots.

I'm sorry. Hang in there. Spring will come. I feel so bad for all of you who just keep getting hit.

Yes, I sent it to you from CO - I thought maybe you needed the "extra" moisture! It has been snowing and blowing here in Breck all week. (Great for spring skiing...)
