Blessed be antibiotics!

The doctor couldn't get a real good look in Angoo's mouth . . . he was a little intractable . . . but she's fairly sure it's a carnassial tooth abscess, like Max had. With Max the abscess broke a hole through his face, which is not unusual. If Angus didn't have cardiac issues the doctor would do surgery, clean it out and send him home with antibiotics. Instead, she sent us home with antibiotics and if the right side of his face is still swollen in ten days, we'll have to reconsider on the surgery.
And she emptied his anal glands which were just full to overflowing.
I don't know if HE's feeling better but I am limp with relief!

I came home and we wandered around outdoors a little and then we came in and he ate his supper and we sat on the couch together. I read, he napped. I didn't bring in wood or fix supper or do much of anything except commune with my beloved little dog.

And I feel pretty good about that.

Oh, I surely hope Angus is a fast healer. Surgery at his age would seem tricky. Thinking of you all - I know you and your husband must be so worried.

Now that is really good to hear! I'm so glad that everything has a chance to return to normal. I'll be looking forward to hearing what the next few days will bring. :-)

Ah yes. Your account brings back sad memories of my old dog's many, rather stinky, ailments. Here's hoping your dear doggie is feeling better soon.

With all that love (and meds) he'll do great. Please do keep us posted and give him a little scratch behind the ears for me.

I truly hope the antibiotics will clean everything up and he will soon feel better. Poor little guy.

We haven't had to call in the troops for medical care for a little while now. *Knock wood* I'm always a basket case until my animals are back in top form, which was fine when I lived in the city. Out here in the country though, they look at me a little sideways, like I'm soft or something. And, you know, I'm okay with that. Hope Angus feels better soon!

Thank you all for the sympathy and good wishes. Angus hasn't missed too many meals during this particular siege, and tonight he was standing tapping his little toes, waiting for me to get his dish ready. And he polished it off to the last kibble. I do believe he's feeling better already. More relaxed, not so agitated. Imagine having both ends hurting! At least one of those ends has been fixed up, and we're working on the kissy end.

A breather for 10 days. I hope the antibiotics work because surgery would be hard at his age. Snuggle lots X

Ah! That's good to hear June, a bit of relief amongst the angst is heartening. Especially now he is eating a great sign. Take that deep breathe have a big sigh and enjoy those furry cuddles.

Fingers crossed that it works out for Angus.

Anal glands.... I need to remember things like that whenever I moan about how expensive vets are.
