Lunacy

Merriam Webster's second definition of lunacy is "intermittent insanity once believed to be related to phases of the moon."

Once believed? I believe it now.

In one hour, the moon will officially be full. I'm suffering great distraction of the mind. I can't keep my thoughts straight. It's one of the hallmarks of full-moon-itis for me.
In the days when we had a boat, Husband would tell people that on full moon nights, they could find June at the end of the dock howling at the moon.

This month there are two, count 'em! ...two full moons...today and again on New Year's Eve.
For joy.

Guess we will here a lot of howling from your neck of the woods! Maybe that accounts for my struggles concentrating today.

Greetings from England! Your blog is very interesting, and made me smile. A little out of the ordinary, for a change. I shall return. Drop by my place some time, you'll be very welcome.

Bonnie, I am sorry to report that the howling took the form of snarling and snapping early this afternoon... I am a lunatic.

Autumn Mist, delighted to meet you. Thank you for your "out of the ordinary" comment; very gratifying! I've been over to see you and will go read more in a short time to read more about your blessed plot, your earth, your realm, your England. (With apologies to The Bard.)

And what, pray, is wrong with howling at the full moon? I do it regularly--even when there isn't one. Keeps the coyotes on their toes.

Extraordinary is a good handle for you. I knew that from the get-go.

I did get a shot of the full Moon or nearly so the other evening when it popped up and shined through the trees that are bare. I forgot it is on my camera.

Howl away June...it's good for the soul! I saw the full moon Tuesday night...it ended up having a ring around it, the local news reported, but I missed that part, felt like howling myself!

I live a few hundred miles from June and really must ask her to bring it down a notch or two !

Maybe the full moon an dmy wandering mind contributed to me getting a speeding ticket on the 2nd? Works for me, it wasn't my fault!

Maybe lunacy could be spelled luna-see. I love the way the moon changes colors and shapes, how it rises and falls. I don't often think of the moon pulling my inner self by gravity, but your post led me in that direction. Passion. Anger. Frustration. All can be good for writers. And thank you for reading my "game" piece for Sunday Scribblings.

Mr. Lincoln, I look forward to your moon shot!

Wanda, sure was an awesome and powerful full moon, wasn't it???

Bibi, I'm quite sure that there's more than a grain of truth in your observation!

Lady: Yeah. That works. Tell the judge. :-P

I used to love full moons, Beth. I have grown to fear them. I dare not look at them for long. Maybe I need to stop, and take it in; maybe it would strengthen me in a way I can't foresee.
